MORTON'S NEUROMA

A neuroma is a thickening of nerve tissue that can develop in various parts of the body creating nerve damage. Morton's neuroma is most common neuroma in the foot which occurs at the base of the third and fourth toes. Symptoms of Morton's neuroma are tingling, burning, numbness, pain or a feeling that something is inside the ball of the foot. This generally happens when one is wearing narrow-toed shoes or performing certain aggravating activities. If untreated neuroma grows in size and nerve damage becomes permanent. The symptoms may go away temporarily by massaging the foot. Treatment options include message, less intense activities, or surgical option.
